carebon cub demo day

We had an overwhelming response for the Carbon Cub demo day here in Western WA. The FBO at Harvey Field S43 did us justice by giving us a converted hanger and the ramp right in front of the restaurant to operate from. At time we had crowds upward of thirty plus milling around our area. Fortunately the weather cooperated with one of the nicest days yet this Spring! Harvey is small field with a lot of activity, the airspace was in constant use with fixed wing, helios and sky divers! It was busy!!! But a lot of fun!

Due to the large number of confirmed pre-sign ups Randy decided to bring two Carbons and that was a good thing as we kept both running hot constantly turning over passengers. In addition to the two Carbons we had my S1, Tom Hanni's S1, Bob Savage's S1 and Jeff Jacob S2 on display. We had people swarming all over them! At least a dozen of the pilots we demoed flew in!

CC staff Randy Lervold and Byrce Huges as pilots and Pete Dougherty as briefer with myself working sign ups and coordinating rides we managed to give 30 demo rides! We went in with 20 confirmed pre-signed up and had 16 walk ups sign up. We lost a few due to the wait but still after 30 rides we were all glad to cut it off!

Everyone that flew came out with a huge smile! It was almost comical watching the folks being dazzled!

Carbon Cub Demo Day at Harvery Field S43 June 5th 2010

We are proud to personally invite you to the Carbon Cub demonstration day at Harvey Field S43, Snohomish WA on June 5th beginning at 1000 AM.

                                                  www.cubcrafters.com/demodays

If you have had the desire to own a CubCrafters Cub this will be your opportunity to fly and feel a Carbon Cub. To be able to check out its amazing STOL performance, aerodynamics and workmanship. It still flys and feels like a cub with a reserve of power for dynamic takeoffs and climbs! Cruise around with the economy of a cub window up and door down! The Carbon Cub is the only light sport aircraft with a 180hp engine.  http://www.cubcrafters.com/carboncubss

Harvey Field has graciously given us permission to host the demonstrations at the field, a great central location with both a grass strip and paved runway. Harvey Field offers a restaurant for food and drink, plenty of aircraft parking along with great airplane scenery of mountains and rivers.

I will have my modified S1 Sport Cub on site if there is an interest of a demonstration flight in a 100 hp Sport Cub the forerunner to the Carbon Cub and still available from the factory. This demo/discovery flight will give you logged tail wheel dual. A great trainer for flight instruction and just plain old cub driving!

Light Sport Aircraft qualify under the Sport Pilot rules of flying with your drivers license and not requiring a medical.

Based on interest in the Carbon Cub we expect a good turnout and recommend confirming a ride in advance. Show ups are welcome and will be taken in order of sign ups after the reservations. Due to time constraints demo rides will be limited to 20 Carbon Cub and 8 Sport Cub flights. Again, pre-signups will take priority. So please feel free to respond to george@couleeairservices.com or 253-219-8122 with your desire to reserve a demo ride of your choice, Carbon or Sport Cub.

If a demo dosen't interest you at this time you are welcome to treat it like a flyin and just show up, check out the cubs and hang out!

Want to own a Carbon/Sport Cub but don't have a tailwheel endorsement or a sport pilot license? I am a sport pilot CFI qualified to give tailwheel endorsements and flight reviews to any category pilot. Learn stick and rudder skills, low and slow cub driving, STOL, and beach, river and mountain flying the cub way.

First student solo today J3 and flight of four taildraggers

I soloed Steve, one of my students today, at Wax Orchard, Vashon Island in his J3, the same place I soloed! This J3 has been in Steve's family since the 1950s and he had it completely rebuilt 2 years ago.

I rarely see another aircraft come to Wax Orchard when I am there but while I was waiting for Steve to do his 3 solo laps a Champ came in and left and a flight of four tail draggers came in and landed as a flight of 4 , two PA11s, a Champ and a Super cub! Two of the pilots were old friends of mine, Tim Porter and wife Leslie in the CubCrafters rebuilt Super Cub and Marlo Jones and his wife Susan in the copper cub. Steve landed and I introduced him around and we had a great half an hour of visiting!

It makes your heart swell to have shared a moment in time such as this day! While we were sharing stories another red and white PA11 came in and left and wished he would have stopped! 3 PA11s in the matter of an half an hour how rare! We took off for home base TIW and they took off as a flight of four for pie at Port Orchard, how cool!
