TAPLE TOP MESA LANDING

Near Grand Coulee Dam there is a table top Mesa that I had been eyeballing to land on for some time. Finally on this past trip to Coulee Country I scratched this desire off my bucket list!

Exploring the top for landing sites and it appears the dry pond bed is a potential!

TURNING FINAL

LANDED

After flying around it low and slow for several ciricuts I touched first to test the feel before attemping to land.

PICTURE MAKES THE DRY POND LOOK BIGGER BUT IT WAS AMPLE

After touching down
the grass tufts slowed me down fast.

The takeoff was popping the flaps to get free of the grass and into ground effect and then diving over the cliff like a waterfall to pick up airspeed!

It is unlikely anyone has been on top of this Mesa before as it is nearly impossible to climb. I didn't dare shut the motor off on the long shot that it wouldn't start again! Otherwise I would have a lot better pictures showing my cub sitting on the edge of the bluffs.
